Farewell David Connor
Mr Connor joined the maths team in September 2019. He leaves us to be an Assistant Subject Leader of Maths at Wallington Boys. Some responsibilities of his new role include day-to-day running of KS5 Maths/Further Maths, intervention across the department and, hopefully, teaching & learning. His biggest challenge he thinks will be to enthuse the students in his new school in the same way he has done here.
Mr Connor loves working with people and will particularly miss his year 7 group, those in his maths classes always asking about ridiculous 3rd year university level maths to answer GCSE questions and others in his form group always actively engaging in high-level political debates. Mr Connor is a highly respected teacher as well as a very capable mathematician. His interest in maths, computing and DofE adventures are some of his reasons for joining the teaching profession in the first place. Mr Connor has many fond memories of his time at SGS; in particular he recalls his birthday – his form had decorated Room 96 and filled it with balloons and a handmade card. It was a lovely touch.
We will miss our guess work in relation to Mr Connor’s non-standard use of English and his down to earth, easy-going personality. The maths pub quiz team will also not be the same without his contributions.
